Teachers
The classes are given by four different teachers: Violaine, Brew, Magda and Alena in order to embrace a larger spectrum of techniques and methods as well as a big range of availabilities. Come visit us! 🙂
Violaine Toth
Violaine Toth (They/She) is a french ceramic artist based in Berlin. In 2017, they graduated from a Master degree in Product design (France) and moved to Berlin to work for a porcelain designer and learn wheel throwing in a shared studio. After one year, they founded Violaine Toth Ceramic (2018) and have been creating ceramic wares, sculptural vases and teaching the pottery wheel ever since.
Violaine is teaching the monthly classes, the private classes and the small edition workshops.
Ella Brew
Brew (They/them) is a ceramicist and multimedia artist from Oregon, USA. Brew began learning and practicing ceramics in 2014 and since then has been enamored with the various worlds the field of ceramics contains. They believe there is power that comes from creating functional objects instead of only consuming them—and they want to share it. Brew enjoys combining wheel-thrown pieces and handbuilding techniques, as well as creating simple tableware designs. They are currently working on a set of handbuilt ceramic lamps based off of Berlin’s infrastructure.

Magdalena Komar
Magda (she/her) is a Berlin-based ceramic artist and wheel-throwing teacher. With a background in architecture studies and over ten years of experience in food photography and styling, she makes forms designed for the table.
She began working with clay in 2022, studying with different Berlin-based teachers and further on exploring diverse clay traditions: most recently as a resident artist in China and India. She loves taking her pottery wheel outdoors whenever she can.Â
In her classes, she brings attention to form and joy. As a yoga practitioner, she will probably remind you to breathe.Â

Alena Bulgakova
Alena Bulgakova (They/She) is a Berlin-based ceramic artist and graphic designer from Kaluga region, Russia. They began working with ceramics through handbuilding. They studied glaze development with OVO Lavka, a studio known for its research-driven approach. This was followed by independent glaze testing and material exploration. They took part in an art residency at Kusanokashira Kiln in Japan, working with Mino ware traditions including Hikidashi-guro, ash glazes, Oribe, and Shino. Their practice explores mythology, the human–nature relationship, vulnerability, routines, rituals, and play.
