Discover the art of hand-building with clay while creating your very own ocarina — a unique wind instrument with ancient roots. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn shaping techniques, how to create precise finger holes, and the basics of tuning your instrument.
This workshop is perfect for beginners and ceramic enthusiasts alike. Come join us in a warm, welcoming space where creativity flows, make a beautiful, functional instrument crafted by your own hands!
Program of the workshop :
- Guidance to draw your instrument and choose your clay among four different colors (black, white, beige and brown)
- Make your ocarina with variate handbuilding techniques and the guidance of the instructor
- Paint your piece with colored engobes
- After the workshop, your piece will be fired and glazed with a transparent coating by the studio (no extra cost for firing and glazing in transparent)
- Your piece will be ready to pickup at our studio one month after your workshop (we need time to dry it, fire it and paint it after you made it: this is a slow process! 😉)
Renné is a ceramic artist from Mexico City, now based in Berlin since 2015. Inspired by the full ceramic process, from gathering clay to firing techniques, her work reflects her fascination with antique sculpting methods and Aztec heritage. Exploring themes of femininity, intuition, and spiritual power, Renata’s migration experience has fueled her journey to reconnect with her roots, shaping a contemporary narrative that blends ancient traditions with modern identity.

What is included:
- 3-hour guided session with expert guidance
- Clay and use of the potter’s tools and engobe paints
- Glazing and firing made by our studio after your class to make your instrument water resistant and usable.
What to bring:
- Comfortable clothes that can get dirty
- Good mood and ideas (However, if you don’t have inspiration on that day, we have plenty for you 😉)
Only reservations cancelled 1 month in advance or more full calendar days prior to the start of the course will receive a full refund. Cancellation 15 days in advance will receive 50% refund. We do not offer postponement.
- Please note : Each participant will be able to make and fire one ocarina, any extra pieces will be charged extra (10€/kg per firing).
After the workshop, the pieces will be fired within one month and you will receive an email to come pick it up when it is ready. Due to limited space in our studio we can’t store your pieces for a long period of time. Therefore your ceramics have to be picked up within two months after you receive the pickup email.
